KoolAssist for Users

Everything you need to get connected and get help — no account, no install.

Getting started

1 · Download & run KoolAssist

KoolAssist is a single small program — there is nothing to install and you don't need an account.

  1. Go to koolassist.com/remote and download KoolAssist for your system (Windows, macOS or Linux).
  2. Open the downloaded file. On Windows it's kooltel-remote.exe — just double-click it; it runs straight away.
  3. The KoolAssist window opens showing Your Desktop — your ID and a one-time password.

Basics

2 · Get your ID & password

Two things identify your computer to KoolAssist:

  • Your ID — a fixed number for this computer. It never changes.
  • One-time password — a short code shown under your ID. It changes every session, so nobody can reconnect later without your say-so.

To let someone in, you give them both. Click the refresh icon next to the password any time you want a fresh one.

3 · Let support connect to you

  1. Open KoolAssist and read out (or send) your ID and the one-time password.
  2. When the technician connects, a prompt appears asking you to Accept — the session only starts after you allow it.
  3. You keep watching the whole time, and you can end the session instantly by closing the window or clicking the red disconnect button.
You are always in control. No one can see or touch your screen until you share a password and accept the prompt. Close the window and access ends immediately.

How-to

4 · Connect to another device

If you're the one giving support:

  1. Ask the other person for their ID and one-time password.
  2. Type their ID into the Control Remote Desktop box and click Connect.
  3. Enter their password when prompted. Their screen appears and you can control it.

5 · Set up unattended access

For a machine you'll need to reach when nobody is sitting at it (a server, a kiosk, your own office PC), set a permanent password so it can be reached without someone clicking Accept.

  1. In KoolAssist, open Settings → Security.
  2. Under Unattended access, choose Set permanent password and enter a strong password.
  3. Note the ID. From then on, an authorised technician can connect using the ID and that permanent password.
Only set this on machines you own or manage. A permanent password removes the per-session Accept prompt, so keep it strong and private.

Basics

6 · During a session

While connected, the toolbar gives you:

  • File transfer — copy files both ways securely.
  • Chat — type to the person at the other end.
  • Clipboard — copy and paste text between the two computers.
  • Quality / display — adjust image quality or switch monitors.
  • Disconnect — end the session at any time.
Security

7 · Your privacy & security

KoolAssist is built to keep your sessions private:

  • End-to-end encrypted. Every session is encrypted between the two computers.
  • Self-hosted. Connections run through Kool Telecom's own servers — not a third-party cloud that mines or resells your activity.
  • You approve every session. Without a permanent password, nothing happens until you click Accept.
  • Access ends when the session ends. Close the window and the connection is gone; the one-time password won't work again.
